Job Description

AECOM is actively growing the East Region Environmental Planning & Permitting (EPP) practice and is seeking a Senior Project Manager within the Mid-Atlantic EPP Department.

The successful candidate will have experience in overseeing environmental permitting projects for energy clients, specifically within the Offshore Wind (OSW) market.

The successful applicant will join a network of existing AECOM EPP specialists across the US to assist in project delivery.

For this opportunity, we will consider candidates in any of our Mid-Atlantic Regional offices including, but not limited to, the following : Baltimore, MD;

Germantown, MD; Conshohocken, PA; Arlington, VA; Norfolk, VA; and District of Columbia.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to :

  • Develop, manage, and administer staff and projects carried out by those directly reporting to this position.
  • Manage and perform consulting projects to scope, schedule, and budget, learning and applying AECOM's project management systems and software.

The candidate will accelerate through AECOM's in-house Project Management certification program within the first year of employment.

  • Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary project teams in the preparation of local, state, and federal permitting processes for offshore wind energy projects, with a particular focus on preparation of permit applications, BOEM Site Assessment and Construction and Operations Plans, Environmental Impact Statements, and supporting technical studies, terrestrial and marine surveys.
  • Develop, manage, and deliver business strategy and tactics, high-quality proposals, interdisciplinary teams, and documents and report deliverables.
  • Serve as an interface with clients and regulatory personnel on complex projects and through business development initiatives.
  • Proactively enforce a culture of producing high-quality work and the importance of Health & Safety within the team.
  • Provide technical support to the EPP Department and individual Project Managers and support inter-disciplinary business development activities.
  • Collaborate with other AECOM offices, practices, and business lines.
  • Serve as a mentor to junior and mid-level staff.
  • Perform client visits and field activities that require work outside the office and overnight travel.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Marine Science, Ecology, Policy, or an earth science-related field + 8 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education.
  • 8+ years of experience managing projects and teams to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Valid Driver's License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in relevant field
  • 8+ years of professional experience in environmental consulting / Energy market with applied science in the OSW (Offshore Wind) market to include overseeing studies, surveys and permitting in support of BOEM, SAP and COP Submittals.
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience desired
  • Understanding of the regulatory and study relationships of interconnects and landfalls
  • Strong technical and regulatory policy background consistent with understanding BOEM Permitting submittals and state regulatory policies.
  • Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations
  • Thorough working knowledge of CWA, ESA, NHPA, NEPA, FERC, and other federal, state, and local regulations
  • Experience in team management and scheduling of staff and resources to ensure on time and on budget project delivery.
  • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders.
  • PMP or other project management certification is a plus; candidate will be required to complete AECOM Project Management Certification.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects, interdisciplinary teams, and workload, as well as interface successfully with Clients.
  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment.
  • Organizational management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work.
  • Self-motivated, driven, and hard working.
  • Existing, mature, and tested Client relationships with an ability to generate new work for the Team, Office, and Company.
  • Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written (writing sample required)
  • Occasional overnight travel required.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $106,800.34 - $171,809.24.
