Position : Spay / Neuter Recovery Technician (Full-time)

Texas Humane Heroes (TXHH) is a private, non-profit organization that offers dog and cat adoptions, as well as provides low cost veterinary services for the public and local animal rescue organizations.
TXHH is a dynamic, growth-oriented organization located at 10930 E. Crystal Falls Parkway, Leander, Texas.
Position Overview :
The Texas Humane Heroes’ Spay / Neuter Recovery Technician will understand and be able to communicate Texas Humane Heroes’ mission, vision and goals.
As a Spay / Neuter Recovery Technician, you will play a crucial role in the health and well-being of animals in providing post-operative care and monitoring to animals recovering from spay / neuter surgery.
You will provide high-quality medical care, assist with surgical procedures and support the overall operations of our adoption center and low-cost veterinary clinic.
Organizational Structure :
Spay / Neuter Recovery Technician reports to the Director of Medical Services.
Key Position Responsibilities :
Monitor animals recovering from surgical procedures to ensure their safety, well-being and comfort,
Administer medications as prescribed.
Providing post-operative care and monitoring vital signs.
Assist in the handling and restraint of animals during the recovery process.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene in the recovery area and overall clinic.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and the general public.
Provide medical care to dogs and cats, including administering medications, vaccinations and treatments.
Maintain accurate medical records and ensure all documentation is up to date.
Provide compassionate care and handling of animals with various temperaments.
Assist with other clinic duties as needed.
Qualifications :
Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
Minimum two years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician, preferably in a shelter or adoption center setting.
Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices, procedures and terminology.
Excellent animal handling skills and a genuine love for animals.
Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and the general public.
Proficiency in using veterinary software for record-keeping and scheduling.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and restraining animals.
Fear Free certification obtained within 30 days of hire.
