Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department delivers patient-centered care through a structured process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This position is pivotal in providing high-quality care aligned with established protocols and physician orders while ensuring a compassionate environment for patients and their families.
Essential Functions
Provide exceptional, patient-centered care in line with organizational policies and clinical processes.Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and maintain accurate documentation, promptly reporting any changes in patient condition.Apply knowledge of human growth and development to deliver age-appropriate care.Administer medications as prescribed, monitor for side effects, and document administration properly.Assist physicians during procedures within your competency.Collaborate with healthcare teams to create and implement individualized care plans responding to patient needs.Act swiftly in medical emergencies, participating in life-saving interventions as needed.Advocate for patients, ensuring their needs and preferences are respected in their care.Provide clear education to patients and their families regarding medical conditions and post-discharge care.Follow infection control protocols to minimize healthcare-associated infections.Monitor and operate necessary medical equipment to ensure patient safety.Uphold patient safety standards and maintain a clean, secure environment.Engage in audits and compliance reviews to ensure high practice standards.Make thoughtful decisions in planning and delivering care based on patient requirements.Document all patient care activities in a timely and thorough manner.Participate in professional development activities to keep clinical skills current.Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes.Emergency Services RN :Quickly assess and triage patients to prioritize care based on urgency.Perform emergency procedures such as intubation, wound care, and suturing.Stabilize patients through interventions like medication administration and IV line initiation.Complete additional assigned duties and comply with all organizational policies and standards.Qualifications
0-2 years of experience in clinical nursing or student rotations in acute care settings required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
In-depth understanding of the nursing process and clinical practices.Proficient in conducting patient assessments and communicating findings.Skilled in medication administration and monitoring patients' responses.Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation.Familiarity with safety standards, infection control measures, and quality improvement practices.Licenses and Certifications
RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure or Compact State Licensure required.BCLS - Basic Life Support certification required.ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred.PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation preferred.Refer to specific guidelines for any additional requirements.
