Salary : $20-25 per hour
Position Overview :
Under the supervision of the Education Director, the Lead Teacher is responsible for preparing and implementing lesson plans and instructing students in activities designed to promote social, physical and intellectual growth.
Provides care and supervision of children. Provides intervention related to each child’s goals, monitors and tracks progress.
Communicates effectively with parents. Ensures a healthy and safe learning environment.
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree
- Level 1 or Level 2 Early Childhood Special Education Credential preferred
- 1 year experience teaching young children
- CPR certified preferred
Responsibilities :
- Instruct students individually and / or in groups, adapting teaching methods to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
- Develops lesson plans and prepares materials and classrooms for class activities.
- Establishes clear objectives for all lessons and projects and communicates those objectives to students.
- Assists students who need extra help.
- Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students.
- Meets with parents or guardians to discuss student progress and to determine goals for the student and their needs.
- Prepares students for advancement by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.
- Observes, evaluates and tracks student performance, behavior and / or social development.
- Assesses needs of class participants and modifies class content or teaching methods to meet those needs.
- Conducts quality assurance audits and participates in committees and meetings to receive and report information.
- Demonstrates ability to lead and facilitate a diverse group of children with the understanding of group dynamics.
- Participates in professional training and / or coursework as needed and required.
Physical Demands :
- While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must be able to do the following : stand for extended periods;
- sit for extended periods; bend and reach for filing and other job-related functions; climb up and down stairs; bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials;
pull, push, and lift; reach both above and below shoulder height. Specific visual abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to visually inspect work. Manual dexterity to operate computer and other office equipment required.
