Role Description / Areas of responsibility :

  • This role is part of a small team responsible for financial reporting to our parent company under US GAAP as well as preparation of audited financial statements for a number of US based entities.
  • The role will involve :
  • Reconciling Intercompany balances, preparing consolidating income statement and balance sheet including eliminations
  • Compilation and or review of various US GAAP disclosures Preparation of monthly balance sheet and income statement for various US subsidiaries as well as associated analytics review
  • Participation in Finance related IT projects that impact financial reporting, as well as identifying opportunities for automation of financial reporting processes and working with IT to implement automated solutions.
  • Frequent involvement with the product control, technology, and operations departments

Key contribution areas critical to success :

  • Experience with key US GAAP disclosures applicable to financial institutions (as referenced above).
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and analytical review.
  • Track record of utilizing technology to automate manual tasks and experience in dealing with IT groups.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Analysis of data, critical thinking, the ability to manage complex tasks with multiple steps, and handling of multiple deadlines.
  • The right candidate will be deadline focused, self-motivated, experience in financial services (ideally broker-dealers), and understanding of general ledgers (ideally PeopleSoft).

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required

  • Accounting degree required.
  • Communication / organizational / accounting skills.
  • Ability to process data, run pivot tables, understanding of general ledgers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of typical broker dealer balance sheet items helpful but not required (e.g. trading inventory, repurchase agreements, securities lending agreements, fails to deliver / receive, customer and non-customer payables / receivables).
  • base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, corporate and functional title and duties, job-related knowledge and advanced degrees, skills, and experience.

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and / or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
