Director of Student Unions and Facilities
The Director of Student Unions and Facilities at the University of Pittsburgh is a dynamic leadership position with responsibility for a growing student unions operation serving undergraduate and graduate students as well as the larger campus community.
This individual will provide strategic leadership and oversight for a large professional and student team as it delivers exceptional customer service related to event planning, engaging with students and student organizations in union spaces, and coordinating use of other campus facilities by students and organizations.
Currently included in the student unions portfolio are the William Pitt Union and O'Hara Student Center, as well as reservation responsibilities for other indoor and outdoor spaces on campus, and coordination with the new Campus Recreation and Wellness Center to open in 2025.
In addition to oversight of typical student union operations, the Director will contribute significantly to the vision for and implementation of a long-term student unions renovation plan in conjunction with campus master planning.
The Director will supervise a leadership team of Assistant / Associate Directors and provide high-level oversight of facility use and reservations, relationships with University Facilities Management, coordination with student organizations, students, staff, faculty, and other users of the facilities, event production and tech services, and hiring, training, and supervision of a large student staff.
This individual will also develop and maintain key relationships both internal and external to the University, including but not limited to Business, Hospitality and Auxiliary Services, Facilities Management, Office of Special Events, Philanthropic and Alumni Engagement, the Office of the Provost and other University leadership, and academic administrators, faculty, and staff within schools and colleges.
Part of the Student Affairs Senior Leadership Team, the Director will serve as a collaborative leader within the Division and contribute to advancing the mission of the Student Affairs.
The Director will represent Student Affairs through committees, presentations, events, and partnerships throughout campus and the community.
Job Summary
Executes strategic alignment, long-term planning, operational planning, and management oversight of major college, campus, or University-wide student affairs functions.
Establishes the direction, goals, implementation strategy, evaluation means, student initiatives, and policies of the department.
Maintains responsibility for budgetary matters. Directs effective communications, promotions, and public relations for the department.
Essential Functions
Provides leadership, management, coordination, planning, and acts as liaison for various student services and related programs and functions within the Division of Student Affairs.
Physical Effort
Position may require visits to various residential units on campus, as well as to dining spaces within the residence halls, and this is not considered primarily sedentary.

Hiring Range : $84,500.00 to $90,000.00
