The Role
This test position will participate in the testing and development of detailed network growth and evolution plans in support of High-speed Internet services over DSL and GPON (Fiber) technologies by providing top-tier testing support of new product and services for Lumen.
Location
This position is out of the Denver office at 5325 ZUNI ST Denver, CO
The Main Responsibilities
- Testing ADSL1, ADSL2+, VDSL2, GPON and XGS-PON hardware and software solutions to provide top quality High-speed Internet services.
- Being able to test support and results tracking for DSLAMs and GPON OLTs.
- Partnering with Senior level Architects to assist in certification projects for deployment of Access Network equipment into Lumen’s Network.
- Resolving difficult interoperability problems to obtain operation across all platforms including e-mail, files transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing and the like.
- Configuring systems to user environments.
- Supporting the acquisition and implementation of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services.
- May act as a technical project leader or provide work leadership and mentorship
- Excludes those with full supervisory responsibilities.
- Requires limited direction and guidance
- Create new test cases to suit expanding technology scope
- Troubleshoot defects found during testing through packet captures and analysis work
- Work with other test team members to properly set-up and test new features and functions of these Next Gen Access Technologies
What We Look For in a Candidate
- 3 years of experience with Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering / Computer Science.
- Technical understanding of the different types of xDSL and PON services provided in a consumer telecommunications network.
DHCP, OMCI communication, Fiber Services, 802.1Q, etc.)
- Programing and Automation skills specific to scripting with Perl and Python to create re-creatable automation utilizing knowledge of the network equipment under test.
- Accomplished written and verbal communications skills, excellent interpersonal skills as well as practical negotiation skills.
- Must have a high level of professionalism in all activities as well as high work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's program in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering / Computer Science.
- Expert-level knowledge and experience with DSLAM and GPON equipment.
- Expert-level knowledge and experience with xDSL gateway equipment.
- Expertise in configuring a full end-to-end High-Speed Internet services or In-Home Router Configuration. (PPPoE, or DHCP authentication, 802.1q VLANs, etc.)
- Knowledge and Expert-Level experience in various Operating Systems Environments (Windows, UNIX, Solaris, and Linux.)
- Knowledge and Expert-Level experience in various forms of network security (ex. SSL, HTTPS, IPsec, VPNs, etc.)
- Knowledge and experience in various Scripting and Programming languages (ex. JAVA, PHP, HTML5, Python, TCL, SNMP, JavaScript, Perl, etc.)
Compensation
The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$80,510 - $107,340 in these states : AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.
$84,740 - $112,980 in these states : AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.
$88,980 - $118,630 in these states : CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.
$93,210 - $124,280 in these states : AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
