RN Per Diem

Utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of healthcare needs with ambulatory care as the primary focus. Works with a variety of health care professionals such as Behavioral Care Specialists, Counselors, Therapists, Supervisors, Manager and Directors.

Frequent functions guided by nursing protocols. Functions as a team leader as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet the psychological, psychosocial and emotional needs of the patient.
• Utilizes effective communication skills by demonstrating respect, concern and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships.
• Uses current knowledge to promote a safe environment for providing health care to patients.
• Maintains current professional skills and continues professional growth to enhance the practice of nursing within the program and the image of the organization.
• Adheres to personnel policies to enhance the operation of the health care unit .
• Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for the nursing personnel of the program.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state the facility is located.

Minimum Work Experience

• At least one year of RN experience.
• Previous correctional health care environment preferred.

• Basic computer skills.
• Able to work with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.
• Experience in working with Electronic Health Records.

• Ability to command the respect and confidence of inmates and staff; and philosophically committed to the objectives of the facility.
• Maintains an active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS

• Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests.
• May be required to work nights, weekend, and holidays.
• On-call duty may be required (available to work on short notice) as per site requirement.

• Follows facility and CFG Health Systems Occurrence Protocol.
• Adheres to PREA regulations.
• Punctual and dependent for assigned / confirmed shifts.
• Maintains security clearance for the assigned facility.
• Identifies and utilized appropriate channels of communication with supervising staff.
