Position Summary
The Division of General Surgery at LSU Department of Surgery New Orleans invites qualified individuals to apply for a full-time position as an attending general surgeon within the Division of General Surgery.
Applicants must have completed an accredited residency in general surgery and must be board certified / eligible (or equivalent) in general surgery.
A strong background in minimally invasive surgery or completion of a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery is encouraged.
The major responsibilities will reside at the University Medical Center New Orleans, LA. Academic appointment in the Department of Surgery at the LSU School of Medicine is offered.
Rank, track, and compensation will depend on qualifications.
The opportunity involves joining a busy, well-established general surgery practice with a focus on minimally invasive and robotic techniques.
In addition to daily rounds and clinical duties, responsibilities will include providing emergency general surgery call coverage at least one time per week.
Applicants should have a strong interest in resident teaching and medical student education. No responsibility for trauma call coverage is expected or required.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education : MD or equivalent
Other Required Education : Completion of an accredited residency program in General Surgery
Certifications / Licenses Required : BC / BE (or equivalent) in Surgery; Licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana before date of hire
Preferred Qualifications :
Preferred Experience : A strong background in minimally invasive surgery or completion of a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery
