Job Description :
As a Fleet Mechanic with A National Transit, you will play a critical role in ensuring all our vehicles are safe and ready for daily rollout.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Starting vehicles for rollout.
- Leading preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
- Diagnosing and performing all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, engines, drivetrains, transmissions, and other repairs.
- Ensuring work orders are completed accurately.
- Assisting with road calls and emergency services as necessary.
- Entering and maintaining information in FA Suites.
- Working with lot attendants to maintain vehicle readiness and safety.
- Tracking oil samples.
- Reporting shop needs and parts.
- Cleaning the garage and work area.
- Ensuring necessary vehicles are available for compliance.
- Checking DVIR repairs.
Required Qualifications :
- Must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience working on vehicles inside a shop.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to read and interpret safety documents, blueprints, schematics, and other mechanical diagrams.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical examination and drug test.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Maintenance experience with all types of heavy-duty transit equipment.
- Appropriate Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification preferred.
- Strong electrical diagnostic skills.
