Position Overview

The Director of Health and Wellness leads the management and advancement of three pivotal program areas within the Food is Medicine space : Nutrition Education, Client Meal Programs, and CTFB Pantries.

This role involves comprehensive oversight, including staff management, strategic planning, and operational execution. Key responsibilities include leading and developing the team, using data to drive programmatic improvements, acting as a subject matter expert for the grants team, and preparing detailed reports for both internal and external stakeholders.

Additionally, the role focuses on capacity building to enhance the effectiveness and impact of the programs.

This position plays a crucial role in addressing health challenges among food-insecure clients, aiming to support them in leading healthier, more stable, and self-sustaining lives.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in developing and implementing strategic and operational plans for social service programs, demonstrating a strong ability to drive impact and achieve programmatic goals.

Relationships

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Client Programs and Services, you will lead a team of over 10 professionals, including three direct reports.

You will be responsible for overseeing and driving the success of the Health and Wellness teams within the Client Services department.

Additionally, a strong candidate will possess a keen analytical mindset, with the ability to transform data into actionable insights that inform and enhance programming strategies.

Building and maintaining collaborative and impactful relationships is central to this role.

Requirements

Your Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, healthcare administration, or other related field and / or 7 years in a leadership role with similar responsibilities;

Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 7 years in program management, preferably within community health or healthcare settings, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams, managing multi-faceted programs, and building strategic partnerships with community-based and healthcare organizations.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives, continuously assess and improve processes, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including partners, government officials, and community organizations.

Skilled in influencing, motivating, and maintaining collaborative relationships.

  • Strong commitment to customer service with a track record of developing and sustaining professional relationships.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating programs, including managing budgets and timelines.
  • Ability to create and execute innovative, client-focused strategies in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
  • Familiarity with Central Texas and its network of services for low-income families is preferred.
  • Strong moral compass with dedication to serving diverse populations in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Alignment with CTFB's mission, vision, values, and culture.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.

Your Responsibilities

Cultivate a high-performance team environment focused on leadership, accountability, continuous learning, and goal achievement.

Model best practices and support team members' professional growth through coaching and feedback.

  • Develop and manage the strategic vision for Health and Wellness Programs, including Nutrition Education, Home Delivery, Mobile FARMacy, and CTFB Pantries, with potential oversight of additional Food is Medicine initiatives.
  • Analyze and leverage evaluation data and performance metrics to inform and enhance program design, implementation, and strategic direction.

Ensure that insights derived from data are used to continuously improve programming and achieve organizational goals.

  • Serve as an internal and external authority on Food is Medicine interventions, social determinants of health, and reimbursement related to this programming.
  • Integrate programming with our network of partner agencies to maximize impact.
  • Represent CTFB at community meetings and engage with diverse stakeholders to enhance client services and outreach.
  • Meet performance metrics to ensure organizational and programmatic success in reaching out to food insecure individuals and families, connecting them to ongoing nutritional support.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all reporting requirements, including budgets, audits, grants, and other internal and external documentation.
  • Act as a backup when needed for the programs this position oversees.
  • Actively support and exemplify CTFB's values, goals, and objectives in all aspects of your role.
