Job Title : Field Service Technician
Location : West Chicago, Illinois
Pay : $22 - $30 per hour
Hours : 40 hours per week, with optional and as-needed overtime
Travel : Less than 5%, home daily; travel up to 8 hours daily using company vehicles
Job Summary :
We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join our team in West Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing packaging equipment, including but not limited to stretch wrappers, case sealers, strapping machines, shrink systems, balers, palletizers, bagging machines, and hand tools.
You will work directly with customers to resolve equipment issues, support machinery sales in collaboration with the sales team, and manage large machine installation projects.
Key Responsibilities :
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues in packaging equipment.
- Understand and apply knowledge of high and low voltage concepts, sensors, switches, relays, servos, and PLCs.
- Perform planned maintenance on customers' equipment to ensure optimal operation.
- Complete service tickets at the end of each call, documenting service performed, parts used, service time, travel time, and any other relevant information.
- Collaborate with the sales team to support machinery sales and complete large machine installation projects.
- Work directly with customers to diagnose and resolve equipment issues, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Obtain necessary parts information and submit parts requests to the service coordinator to facilitate timely repairs.
Qualifications :
- 1-3 years of experience in a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including high and low voltage, sensors, switches, relays, servos, and PLCs.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to travel up to 8 hours daily using company vehicles, with less than 5% overnight travel.
