Register Nurse (RN)-Private Duty

About The Role

This is a part-time position that offers flexible scheduling. The 6 : 00 am-6 : 00 pm hours are ideal to accommodate the various scheduling needs of patients and their families.

Job Description

• Under the Director of Nursing's guidance, the RN staff nurse promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process;
• collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families;

and supervising assigned team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in carrying out rehabilitation programming and activities for PPEC patients such as the development of social skills, development of daily living skills
• Provides personal care services to patients including oral hygiene, bathing and hair care as needed, nail care, diapering, and dressing
• Provides bed care to patients, repositioning, ambulating, and assisting with elimination needs. Moving to and from wheelchairs, etc.
• Administers medications to patients orally, intra-, or via feeding tube subcutaneously
• Monitors effects of medications records medication is given and patients' reactions
• Observe and monitor the movement and activities of patients in the PPEC
• Assists / reviews MAR monthly and as needed to ensure accuracy

TREATMENTS AND PROCEDURES

To ensure that patients are receiving the best quality of care, experience with the following conditions is REQUIRED :

• Experience in a pediatric care setting, preferably with medically complex patients
• Valid RN as issued by the Florida Board of Nursing
• CPR and First Aid certifications required
• Must be able to pass a Level II background check
• Must be able to regularly lift and carry at least 50 lbs. safely
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional time management and attention to detail
• Prompt documentation and reporting skills
• Knowledge of Registered nursing techniques and methods
• Knowledge of medications and treatments used in patient care

To ensure that patients are receiving the best quality of care, experience with the following conditions is REQUIRED :

• Tube feeding
• Tracheostomy
• Wound care
• Neurological disorders (seizures are common in our patients)
• Oxygen dependence
• IV therapy

Experience With The Following Conditions Is Highly Desired

• Premature birth, post-discharge care
• Chronic lung disease care
• Feeding - suck / swallow
• Insulin-dependent diabetes?
• Failure to thrive - poor weight gain
• Immune deficiencies
• Renal failure
• Spina Bifida
• Pre / post organ transplant care
• Genetic disorders
• Rare disorders
• Postsurgical long / short-term care
• Colostomy / ileostomy care
