Responsibilities

Join us in leading the change!

Our Senior / Principal / Manager Transmission Planning roles are responsible for performing and leading advanced power system studies for utilities and ISOs in multiple regions.

As a leader, you'll also participate in meetings with clients, contribute to drafting proposals and Scope of works, and train junior staff.

How you can make an impact :

  • Perform high-level bulk power system studies using various power systems software such as PSLF, TARA, DSA Tools, and Aspen.
  • Perform generic and specialized studies of the power grid, such as generation interconnection studies, transmission system planning, remedial action evaluation, black-start studies, and sub-synchronous Resonance assessment.
  • Develop mitigation plans for identified steady-state and dynamic constraints and system issues.
  • Manage the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.
  • Interact with clients to seek input and address their needs and concerns with respect to the projects under study.
  • Lead and train electrical engineers in performing power system analyses.
  • Develop and review transmission planning study methodologies and processes.
  • Participate in WECC Sub-Committees and promote the EPE brand.
  • Lead process improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and support business development activities.

Performance Criteria :

  • Quality of the study / task completed.
  • Efficiency in task completion at or below assigned hours.
  • Meeting deadlines.
  • Billable hours.
  • Support team members and contribute to the overall progress of the team.

Qualifications

Bring your passion, here what's needed :

  • Prior experience as a Power Systems Engineer and a Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering with power system emphasis.
  • Proven team player skills with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Prior hands-on experience working with steady-state and dynamic base cases in the WECC region.
  • Solid understanding of power system basics, transient stability, and master in of-the-shelve software tools like PSLF and TARA.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with respect to explaining technical matters.
  • Strong technical / report writing skills.

Location : This position will be Remote USA or Canada

Travel : Occasional travel may be needed (10% or less)
