Under the direction of the Shipping and Receiving Coordinator and the Shift Team Lead, loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual in this position must use initiative and judgment arranging job details to achieve predetermined objectives.

Reads Production Release Notices, material requests, Manufacturing Design Specifications or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers are properly issued, returned, staged, stored or moved.

Opens containers as required.

• Assists in loading and unloading materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
• Occasionally loads boxed, crated or palletized materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
• Supports materials conveyance from or to storage, work sites or designated area, whenever instructed by MOS Team Lead.
• Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination or signals crane or hoisting opera tors to move load to destination.
• Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on a daily basis.
• Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, reels, bales, or other containers.
• Loads truck for Industrial Truck Operator.
• Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and clean work area.
• Shovels loose materials such as sand, gravel, metals, plastics, or chemicals, into machine hoppers or into vehicles and containers such as wheelbarrows, scrap truck, or barrels.
• Occasionally, may support manufacturing processes as needed to meet production goals.
• Must be able to adhere to FlexSteel’s Attendance Policy
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must have some knowledge of how to operate software programs like spreadsheets and word processing.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Must possess the ability to read and understand bills of materials and differentiate between parts that are similar in nature.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situa tions.
• Must have ability to work effectively with company personnel and customers.
• Must be insurable by the company’s insurance carrier. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must have regular attendance on the job.
• Must be able to operate and certify on industrial forklift truck or electric hoist.

• Regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to clearly hear voices or alarms, bells, and other noise.

• Plant / Shop / Field Services :
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions;

and risk of electrical shock.

• Regularly exposed to wet and humid conditions (outside weather conditions); high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration.
• Occasionally exposed to the risk of radiation or electrical shock.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud
