General Description :
The Coordinator of Inclusion and Student Success is responsible for the coordination and implementation of programs, professional development, training and heritage month events that focus on the experiences of historically marginalized or underrepresented communities and identities.
The Coordinator collaborates with academic affairs, student affairs and other administrative units throughout the college, including NOVA’s Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Council on various diversity initiatives designed to enhance the student experience, highlight communities and cultures represented in the larger NOVA community, and assist faculty and staff in increasing their knowledge of high-impact practices that have a direct and positive impact on historically marginalized or underrepresented communities and identities.
Duties and Tasks :
- Work as a representative of the Office of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion to ensure that the office is providing programming, resources, and services that are responsive to the changing needs of the NOVA community.
- Provide education, training, and social or educational programming for signature heritage month celebrations.
- Builds and fosters key relationships with colleagues across the campus to support sense of belonging programs or initiatives.
- Support NOVA’s Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Center by serving on the TRHT Advisory Board.
- Collaborate with faculty, academic units and administrative offices throughout NOVA to implement and coordinate programming and initiatives, which enhance the recruitment, retention, matriculation, and graduation of students designated as under-represented.
- Assist and co-create educational, support and sense of belonging programs or services for faculty and staff, including Equity Data Summits and culturally responsive pedagogy training.
- Collaborate with campus departments to create and execute a calendar of programs and activities that focus on diversity and inclusion topics for students, staff, and faculty.
- Coordinate and design advertisement campaigns for programs and services associated with the month-long heritage celebrations.
- Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
- Assists with the development of NOVA’s Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Center
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with various aspects of the college community.
- Knowledge of culturally relevant teaching practices and high-impact practices
- Knowledge of event planning and event advertisement best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to explore and learn new software to improve effectiveness and implement work.
- Ability to work with supervision; independently; and in a team environment.
- Skilled in utilizing communication & interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public & others sufficient to exchange or convey information clearly and effectively.
Required Qualifications :
- Experience in creating, organizing, publicizing, facilitating, and implementing diversity-based education programs or events in a higher education setting.
- Experience delivering presentations, workshops, and trainings to faculty, staff, or students.
- Experience facilitating trainings, meetings and seminars to large audiences in a higher education setting.
- Experience working with diverse populations
Additional Considerations Additional Considerations :
- Experience with Zoom, Teams, Word, Power Point, Excel, and other Microsoft Suite programs, social media platforms, and other tools such as Canva, Prezi, etc
- Experience working with both student and employee populations in higher education settings.
- Experience in creating programming and initiatives that impact student success.
