Director of Film & Flexible Recycling Advancement

JOB DESCRIPTION

Location : Remote; Anywhere in the Continental US

Reports to : VP of Materials Advancement

Position : Full time, 40 hours per week, exempt employee

Salary : $115,000 - $130,000

JOB PURPOSE

The Director of Film and Flexible Recycling Advancement is responsible for supporting the management of the Film and Flexible Recycling Coalition in addition to related film and flexible initiatives.

The Coalition and focus of these efforts are to design and implement strategies that support the scaling of film and flexible recovery through the residential recycling system.

The Director of Film and Flexible Recycling Advancement is a part of the Materials Advancement branch of the System Optimization team.

Materials Advancement is focusing on making impacts to the recycling system for specific materials and formats. This work is nationally focused but is going through an evolution that will include integration with the organization’s regional strategy and policy implementation.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS JOB

Create, evolve, and deploy the strategy that will support the scaling of film and flexible material recovery

  • Scope and manage research, bringing together and communicating clear outcomes
  • Data management (excel, access, online database, etc.)
  • Support funder retention by delivering programs with excellence
  • Lead regular Coalition and related work stream meetings

Partner with the team that builds and fosters relationships with potential and current grantees that include processors of film and flexible material

Regular meetings with the Processing Advancement team to ensure the pipeline of projects is aligned with the Coalition’s core strategy and all parties are informed of project score and timeline

Engaging cross-functionally with key teams (i.e. Policy, Innovation, and Funder Development)

Be a good partner in engaging cross-functionally

Support the creation of communication related to the Coalition’s efforts, working closely with internal communications team members

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS FOR THIS JOB

  • Industry know-how. Strong knowledge about the recycling supply chain, film and flexible recycling, packaging sustainability and the circular economy.
  • How local governments and recycling processors manage recycling programs.
  • Corporate sustainability.
  • Recycling outreach / behavior change / messaging best management practices (BMPs).
  • Innovative thinking to lead work focused on the future of the recycling system.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to encourage teamwork and collaboration.
  • Strong verbal and written communication to support the ability to translate complex challenges.
  • Organization and the ability to balance priorities.
  • Multi-stakeholder engagement and relationship building.
  • The ability to identify when you must pull a teammate with more experience or knowledge on a subject to support a project.
