Associate Director of Nursing Responsibilities :
- Encourages participation and involvement in staff development program and participates in activities which foster employee professional growth and development
- Assists department heads in planning and implementing mandatory in-service programs within their departments
- Utilizes outside resources (i.e. organizations, libraries, schools) to obtain information needed to write in-service program
- Adheres to the Computer Security policies to ensure cyber security at all times
- Assures the safety, security, and wellbeing of our residents
- Conducts rounds in order to monitor infection prevention practices with staff and collect infection date from all departments
- Prepares monthly reports for the DON regarding audits and in-services completed
- Participates in new developments in the field of health facilities by attendance at workshops, seminars, conferences, etc.
- Attends Quarterly Assurance Committee meetings and other meetings as requested by DON
- Adheres to time and attendance policy at all times
- Adheres to dress code policy at all times
- Reviews and revises as applicable all departmental policies annually
- Functions under Weinberg's administrative philosophy and objectives, and existing State and Federal regulations
- Performs any other tasks that are deemed necessary by administration at Weinberg
- Practices safe work habits and follows all safety procedures of the facility
- Develops and maintains an effective communication system with Administration, DON, In-service Coordinator / QA, Director of Quality Assurance and scheduler
- Plans and assures orientation and verification of new employee's orientation training for the nurse staff in coordination with in-service coordinator, and update DON
- Provides staff development programs including but not limited to : On-the-job skill training in personnel and rehabilitative nursing, continuous staff development programs to increase knowledge, skills and understanding of problems and ways of dealing with problems associated with residents needing nursing home care with updates to DON
- Participates in committee meetings that seems appropriate for role : -Infection Control Committee -Safety Committee
- Schedules training for new hires in conjunction with scheduling coordinator until orientation is complete
- Assign other duties as needed for patient care / safety
Experience : A minimum of two years experience in a skilled nursing facility
Education Requirements : A registered and licensed professional registered nurse in New York State
Specific Requirements :
- Ability to work hours on all shifts in the facility on a monthly basis
- Demonstrate ability to plan, organize, prepare, and evaluate instructional materials and present the material effectively
Physical and Sensory Requirements :
- Must have the physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must submit to and pass a yearly examination, PPD skin test and attend all mandatory in-services
Working Conditions :
- Works in a well-lit, ventilated area
- May be on feet for long periods of time
- Spends long hours involved in writing and research for preparation of in-service program
- Works forty hours per week; days and times must be flexible to meet the needs of the facility
- Subject to many interruptions and chances of priorities
- Periodic contact with residents, employees, and families
- Required to make decisions within the established guidelines
- Required to handle emergency situations
