POSITION SUMMARY : Thisposition is responsible for the effective leadership and managementof the CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center Spiritual CareDepartment in accord with the Mission and Core Values of theCHRISTUS Health system.
To ensure that CHRISTUSSt. Vincent's Spiritual Care services are conducted in compliancewith national best practice standards and meet the higheststandards in health care chaplaincy, this position is responsiblefor developing and maintaining a team that meets nationalcertification standards.
- The manager is responsible for leadershipof and advocacy for the Spiritual Care Department, includingrecruitment, interviewing, hiring and ongoing mentoring andsupervision of chaplains;
- providing guidance in the budgetingprocess from planning to implementation to evaluation; providingopportunities for spiritual growth and development for Associates;
and oversight of departmental volunteers. The manager will workcollaboratively with other members of the Spiritual CareDepartment, directors of Spiritual Care in CHRISTUS Health,directors of departments within the region, physicians, hospitaland health system leadership and management.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION : Master of Divinity or Masters in Theology from anaccredited university or seminary. Minimum 4 units of ClinicalPastoral Education.
CERTIFICATION / LICENSES : Member of the Roman Catholic Church (United StatesConference of Catholic Bishops, Ethical and Religious Directives#22.
Certification in Chaplaincy from National Association ofCatholic Chaplain (NACC), Association for Professional Chaplains(APC),
SKILLS : Knowledge of the healthcare environment with itschallenges and opportunities. Ability to promote collaboration,open communication and team spirit.
Ability to take initiative andaccept responsibility. Ability to manage and oversee key functionsof the Spiritual Care Department.
Ability to provide effectivepastoral / spiritual care. Skills in establishing and maintainingworking relationships with hospital administrators, departmentalleaders, Associates, and members of the community.
Skills inorganizing, writing and public speaking. Ability to effectively usegoal setting techniques. Competence on personal computer andvarious programs and applications.
Ability to use paging andtelephone equipment.
EXPERIENCE : Five years experience as a professional chaplainrequired. Two years experience as a department manager or leaderpreferred.

Occasional exposure toactivities and infectious diseases in patient care areas.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Workis primarily conducted indoors in an office or hospital setting.Position requires some travel between the hospital and throughoutNew Mexico.
Must be able to handle emergency / crisis situations.Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing / walking. Hearing andvisual acuity within normal limits.
May be required to occasionallylift / carry objects more than 25 pounds.
