Role Overview

As an Electrical Field Service Technician II on our Field Service team, you will be the primary interface with customers after projects are complete.

This highly technical, dedicated team ensures maximum up-time of equipment for our customers, while also identifying potential sales for aging equipment or where enhancements or modifications might be needed.

We manage a variety of systems including standard products and custom projects in the nuclear industry, material handling, cranes, robotics, aerospace, environmental, and other applications.

In this role you will be responsible for installation, inspection, service and repairs of overhead, revolver, cranes, nuclear crane, and nuclear fuel handling equipment.

You have responsibility for planning and coordinating routine inspections, repairs resulting from inspections, execution of aftermarket upgrades and commissioning of standard PAR products within the industry.

Success Criteria

Troubleshooting machine technical issues is your forte, with expertise across the voltage spectrum - Ranging from 100 to 480 Volts AC to 5 to 800 Volts DC sets you apart.

From programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), motors, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) / DC drives, your technical experience allows you to troubleshoot both in person and remotely is what our customers and internal teams.

In the fast-paced world of industrial projects, your ability to prioritize assignments and approach technical solutions with precision will ensure quality and support our customers expect.

You bring a diligence to how you document your results - from updating drawings to communicating with internal teams and the customer, your feedback and solutions during electrical installations, upgrades, and repairs are valued across the board.

Lastly, your ability to easily interface with customers and cross functional teams ensures smooth communication throughout projects, fostering a collaborative atmosphere where challenges are addressed swiftly and effectively.

Below are some examples of day-to-day job activities :

  • Testing, inspecting, commissioning, and servicing of control systems. Includes programming of PLC's, HMI's, VFD's, Tablet PC's, and Wi-Fi networks.
  • Support fundamental electrical system troubleshooting including the use of multi-meters, amp probes and phase detectors in an industrial setting (i.

e., nuclear power plants, cranes, and handling equipment).

  • Communication with project team members providing daily and weekly updates.
  • Supervision of contracted labor on customer's site, ensuring project adheres to established schedule.
  • Communicating with, and travelling to, customers for support, including troubleshooting over the phone, evaluations and recommendations.
  • Adherence to local plant safety rules and procedures, as well as PAR's safety rules and procedures.
  • Preparing reports for the customer and assisting with creation of documentation packages after commissioning.

Qualifications :

  • 3-5 years of technical experience or Military training equivalent in Motion Control Systems, including single phase and three phase power and control systems from 100 to 480 Volts AC and 5 to 800 Volts DC.
  • Electrical background : AC Motion Control Systems, PLCs, VFDs, control panels, HMIs, & computers.
  • Mechanical background : hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, assembly / disassembly of gearboxes, troubleshoot and repair of various mechanical systems.
  • Nuclear Radiation, Military or Navy Nuclear training
  • Must have a Valid Driver's License
  • Associate degree in Industrial Electricity, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field or equivalent vocation / technical / or Military training and experience (preferred)
  • Ability to travel up to 50% Domestic and International
  • Ability to access nuclear power plants.
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Computer skills to include MS Word, Excel, CAD a plus.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety programs, work-at-heights, basic industrial environments, and the required PPE.
  • Familiarity with OSHA 1910.179, ANSI-B30 series and CMAA 70 / 72 / 78 codes and regulations, preferred.

Work in environments that may require standing, walking, bending, crawling, and working at heights (including proper use of harness in accordance with OSHA standards) for extended periods of time.
