Position Purpose :

The Corporate Development Team identifies, evaluates, and executes M&A transactions and target investments for Veolia North America ( VNA ).

Acquisitions are a key part of VNA’s growth strategy, so this position represents a vital role within the company. Corporate Development leads all aspects of the deal process, including initial screening, due diligence, and ultimately financial valuation of target investments.

Integrating information from internal commercial partners and due diligence into a financial model for valuation and presentations to VNA’s ExCom and Paris is a key requirement of this position.

This is a high-visibility role with extensive interaction with VNA senior management. The DSI function includes everyone with a commercial role throughout the organization and across all Business Units ( BUs ) - sales teams, business developers, marketers, proposal writers, etc.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Primary responsibility for financial models and valuation working in close coordination and cooperation with the acquiring BU.
  • Coordinate oversee and due diligence efforts by serving as part of Deal Team leadership, coordinating activities across the BU and corporate functions.
  • Ensure M&A policies and procedures are complied with at all times and coordinate preparation of Corporate approval documents.
  • Support the development and screening of potential transactions from internal and external deal sources , and from their own strategic market and technical research and in collaboration with BUs.
  • Assist in creating presentation materials for executive management, potential partners, and customers.
  • Think creatively about markets and adjacencies and recommend attractive business areas where it can acquire an established business with similar or adjacent services.
  • Make intelligent risk / reward assessments based on well-informed analysis and strategies to mitigate deal risk.
  • Advise senior management of the merits of specific investment opportunities based on thorough analysis and evaluation in the context of established strategic priorities.
  • Work with the BUs and external advisors to proactively establish a robust pipeline of acquisition prospects. opportunities.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background :

  • Advanced financial degree such as an MBA; or Masters in Economics combined with 7+ years of experience.
  • 3 + years of financial leadership in an industrial business setting, with direct exposure to mergers and acquisitions.
  • Significant M&A experience while at a major corporation, Big Four accounting firm, investment bank, or similar background.
  • International experience a distinguishing plus.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :

Outstanding financial modeling skills with the ability to adapt standard templates to complex projects. Examples of knowledge required for financial modeling include : Experience with NPV and IRR calculations.

Modeling tax vs book depreciation.Calculations of CAGR and ROCE.Calculation of normalized working capital.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Understanding of key revenue and cost drivers and critical success factors for Veolia’s various business lines.
  • Collaborative and creative team player with drive for innovation and continuous improvement of systems, processes and tools.
  • Self-starter with strong organization, project management, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a flexible and collaborative environment.

Required Certification / Licenses / Training :

CPA or equivalent is a plus.

Physical Requirements :

Job location : Ability to travel domestically and abroad up to 25% of work hours.
