Job Title : Cashier
Job Summary : Temporary Contract Role approximately 35 hours per week for 2-3 months. Office is closed 12 / 23 / 24-01 / 05 / 25
Cashier handles clerical tasks related to receiving and processing payments, maintaining financial and statistical records, and operating office and computer equipment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Receive and process cash payments; issue receipts and maintain transaction records.
- Prepare daily cash reports, balance cash from multiple City departments, and manage the cash drawer.
- Record and verify financial transactions; assist with preparing financial and statistical reports.
- Post utility transactions and maintain the Petty Cash Fund.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding account status.
- Issue parking permits and maintain related records.
- Manage and track City pool car keys, including recording mileage and usage.
- Type routine documents and assist with Utility Billing Division tasks.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Cashiering methods, financial clerical work, and general office practices.
- Use of office and computer equipment, including basic financial software.
- Clear full back ground check with fingerprinting and credit check.
Skills and Abilities :
- Adapt to procedural changes and perform clerical tasks with accuracy.
- Prepare financial reports and operate adding / calculating machines.
- Perform arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.
- Follow instructions and work effectively under time pressure.
- Maintain a positive, professional demeanor with coworkers and customers.
Experience : One year of clerical experience with a focus on financial recordkeeping and general office work. Six months of cashiering and spreadsheet experience preferred.
Education : High school diploma or equivalent.
