POSITION SUMMARY :

We are seeking a proactive and strategic Marketing & Communications professional to lead our efforts in the District Council department.

The District Council Department facilitates the exchange of information that strengthens the capacity of the Institute to deliver its mission at the local level, via its District Councils.

This role focuses on enhancing the District Council’s departmental communication strategies, oversee marketing projects, and fostering engagement with District Council staff and members.

The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinker with strong project management skills, a knack for strategic content development, and an ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics.

The position is on a hybrid schedule with 2 days in ULI’s Washington DC office and requires that the candidate attends district council events and functions in person in the US and Canada.

Meetings, events, and programs may be in the early mornings or evenings.

The salary range for this position has been set at $76,500.00 to $81,250. Actual salaries will vary based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and other job-related factors.

The range listed is just one component of ULI’s total compensation package for employees which includes a full and competitive benefits package.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

Strategic Communication Planning (40%) : Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies for the District Council department.

Oversee the creation and dissemination of newsletters, flyers, brochures, and digital content. Manage editorial calendars and coordinate department communication efforts, including social media and website updates.

Project Management (20%) : Lead cross-departmental projects that support ULI’s membership initiatives and mission advancement programs.

Cultivate effective working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

Content Development & Execution (20%) : Drive content creation for events and programs, including webinars, retreats, and conferences.

Collaborate with speakers, content providers, and internal teams to ensure alignment with ULI’s goals and objectives.

Design and Branding (10%) : Utilize design software such as Canva for creating marketing materials and manage the production of visual content.

Ensure all materials adhere to ULI’s brand standards and maintain consistency across platforms.

Additional Responsibilities (10%) : Undertake other projects and duties as assigned by the Director to support departmental and organizational objectives.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience : in marketing communications or project management, preferably within a member-based or nonprofit organization.
  • Skills :
  • Project Management : Proven ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and effectively.
  • Strategic Thinking : Strong ability to develop and implement long-term communication strategies and content plans.
  • Communication : Exceptional writing and editing skills with a deep understanding of brand voice and tone.
  • Design Skills : Proficiency in design tools like Canva; experience with graphic design preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency : Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), social media platforms, and web content management.
  • Interpersonal Skills : Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across departments and with external partners.
  • Initiative : Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving and project execution.
