The Software Engineer is responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving complex software systems, which range from processing-intensive analytics and novel algorithms to handling very large data sets and real-time systems, based on specific requirements.
This role involves solving software issues, applying appropriate development methodologies, and contributing to system design decisions, including hardware / software trade-offs and the potential for software reuse.
The engineer also evaluates the use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) solutions to reduce the need for new development.
Moreover, they conduct thorough requirements analysis, bridging the gap from system-wide needs to individual software functionalities.

Requirements
- Proficiency in analyzing and translating user requirements into actionable software design and performance metrics.
- Skilled in debugging, correcting software defects, and enhancing overall system functionality.
- Experienced in improving software development and documentation processes.
- Capable of designing and integrating new features into existing software systems, with a strong foundation in database query development.
- Leadership experience in guiding software development teams and ensuring project adherence to development methodologies.
- Expert in designing complex algorithms and database interfaces, with a focus on meeting strict performance standards.
- Collaborative abilities to work closely with hardware and system engineers, ensuring software meets all requirements and interfaces effectively.
- Minimum fourteen (14) years of experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
- Five (5) years of experience with object-oriented programming languages such as C++ and Java.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required OR Nineteen (19) years of SWE experience.
- Active TS / SCI Clearance with Polygraph.
