Located in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, Appalachian Counseling & Psychological Services (ACAPS) is a multidisciplinary team providing therapy, psychological / neuropsychological testing, speech / language therapy, and medication management for a variety of patients. Our providers consist of doctorate and mid-level providers from a wide range of disciplines.
We currently have positions open for a Child and Adolescent therapists to provide individual outpatient therapy services in our fast-paced clinic. The therapist will need to maintain effective relationships with other staff members to determine and meet the social, environmental, economic, and psychological needs of the patient and collaborate with other providers to ensure continuity of care. Along with providing individual outpatient therapy, the provider will also foster the promotion and maintenance of health and assist in evaluating health outcomes.
This is full-time position. Hours and work schedules are flexible.
Ideal applicants will possess a doctorate degree in a related field of study with 3 to 5 years of postdoctoral clinical experience in treating children and / or adolescents. Preference will be given to applicants with background experience in an integrated medical / mental health system.
Mid-level (master's degree) providers with a minimum of 5 years experience will be considered.
Responsibilities
Assess and screen patients by conducting intake assessments, including interviews and observations, and reviewing relevant medical histories, physical exams, and results of psychological testing
Analyze data and results of assessments to diagnose patients
Monitor patients to determine efficacy of interventions
Develop a treatment plan, measure progress against the plan, and adjust interventions as needed
Provide crisis intervention as needed
Complete all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner
Collaborate with a broader team of physicians, psychologists, and nurses to assess and adjust treatment plans
Coordinate and communicate with case managers and other stakeholders about treatment and care
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a full and unrestricted license to practice in North Carolina. At least 2 year of postgraduate experience is required
Applicants must reside in the state of North Carolina
Excellent knowledge and familiarity with current DSM / ICD-10 criteria
Familiar with crisis assessment tools and techniques
Strong working knowledge of general psychiatric principles and practices
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Applicants must be able to successfully pass background screenings
