Job Summary :

The Nursing Assistant (NA) is a patient care support partner with the Registered Nurse (RN) and performs work as delegated by the RN.

The NA provides direct care to patients and assists with non-direct patient care coordination. The individual in this position is expected to perform basic care and comfort standards like bathing, grooming, and clothing patients.

This NA is expected to practice medical asepsis, respect the dignity and privacy of every patient and family, and to respect cultural differences during patient care.

NAs may be asked to assist with meal preparations and adhering to individual patient's diets.

Ideal candidates will be able to work under high-pressure situations with compassion and empathy while following basic policies and procedures.

Candidates will be required to maintain a friendly and clean environment for patients as well as maintain confidentiality and organization of written and verbal health records / documents.

NAs may also be tasked with scheduling events and activities for patients. This may include transfers; computer data entry;

and other duties of a clerical nature. In this role, the NA works under the general supervision of the Manager.

Clinical / Technical Skills Required

  • Communicate with patients, family members, visitors, and members of the health care team respectfully.
  • Maintain cleanliness of patients and their environment to ensure a positive experience
  • Handle and Use medical documents with care and confidentiality
  • Assist in meal prep based on each patient's diet
  • Accurately perform and document vitals signs, height, weight, and other information needed by RNs
  • Properly document care / aid provided and declined in an electronic record
  • Use proper emergency policies and procedures
  • Mediate between RNs and families to ensure everyone is up-to-date on patient condition
  • Collect, Test, and label lab work needed by RNs for each patient
  • Follow assigned restorative programs / therapies by RNs or other medical professionals

Qualifications

  • Current Maryland Board of Nursing CNA License
  • Preferred 1-year adult and Pediatric Nursing Experience
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications
  • Required Vaccinations (COVID, Hepatitis B, etc)
  • Background Check(s)
  • Compassionate and Caring nature
  • Other documents may be requested during the hiring process
