Position Title : School-Based Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)
Location : Oakland, CA
Job Summary : We are seeking a motivated and skilled Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to join our school-based team.
The SLPA will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to support students with communication disorders, helping them achieve their academic and social goals.
Key Responsibilities :
Direct Student Services :
- Provide speech and language therapy services to students as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) under the supervision of an SLP.
- Implement therapy activities and exercises designed by the SLP to improve students' speech, language, and communication skills.
Assessment and Data Collection :
- Assist the SLP in conducting screenings and assessments to identify students with speech and language needs.
- Collect and document data on student progress towards therapy goals and report findings to the supervising SLP.
Collaboration :
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support students' communication needs within the classroom environment.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of student goals and objectives as needed.
Administrative Support :
- Prepare therapy materials and maintain an organized work environment.
- Assist in scheduling therapy sessions and managing caseloads.
Education and Training :
- Provide support and resources to teachers and parents to help them understand and reinforce speech and language strategies.
- Educate school staff on techniques to support students' communication needs.
Qualifications : Education :
Education :
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program or related field from an accredited institution.
Licensure and Certification :
- Current certification or licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant in the state of Colorado.
- Completion of any required state or national certification exams.
Experience :
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred.
- Bilingual preferred
