Job Summary : The Construction Project Manager is responsible for organizing, coordinating, facilitating, managing, driving, and leading the execution of construction projects for the health system ensuring they meet the expectations of the health system in terms of timing, quality of construction, financial performance, and code / regulatory compliance.
This role will be the central point of contact for all functional internal and external teams and oversee all construction vendors and their employee's performance and will provide performance management and guidance to those parties.
The Project Manager will use a wide range of tools, software, and / or systems to effectively manage communication, scope definitions, schedules, budgets, resources, risks, and reports for the complete project life cycle.
Minimum Education : Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or related field.
Licensure, Registration and / or Certification : None.
Work Experience : Minimum 5 years of experience as project manager on complex healthcare construction projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Advanced communication skills : verbal and written. Ability to conduct effective presentations.
Proficient in MS Office, scheduling software, and accounting software such as CMiC.. Ability to apply fundamentals of the means and methods of construction management to projects.
Thorough knowledge of project processes and how each supports the successful completion of a project. Ability to build relationships with team members that transcend a project.
Proficiency in project management methodologies. Proficient in construction technology. Proficient in BIM (Building Information Modeling).
Ability to apply Lean process and philosophy. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, maximize profitability and generate future work through building relationships.
Demonstrated ability developing and managing a project from start to finish.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities : Collaborates with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project.
Develops and tracks the project execution schedule and manages all necessary work streams to achieve the targeted occupancy date.
Coordinates the activities of the construction site and the various vendors to ensure that the workflow is efficient and sequenced properly.
Tracks project costs and manages the overall project budget (construction, equipment, furnishings, information technology, commissioning).
Ensures that all code requirements and safety regulations are followed on all construction sites. Secures proper permits for construction, occupancy, and certification of medical facilities.
Provides health system leadership with updates to project status and any major issues that need to be addressed.
Decision Making : Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.
Working Relationship : Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Works directly with patients and / or customers.
Works with internal / external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
Works frequently with individuals at director level or above.
