You will lead the charge for meeting reliability targets and asset improvement through the application of Operational Discipline, Process Safety Management (PSM), and Suncor's Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) programs while upholding engineering and industry best practices, adhering to Suncor’s technical standards, and applicable codes.
We are currently recruiting for multiple instrumentation engineering roles on our Reliability and Plant Engineering teams.
In this role you will identify opportunities to maximize asset availability, provide solutions to chronic equipment problems, and reduce cost, while operating safely and meeting Suncor technical standards.
You will be an integral member of our maintenance reliability group at our Commerce City refinery, which is the largest refinery in the Rocky Mountain region and the only petroleum refinery in Colorado.
Minimum Requirements :
5 or more years of work experience in heavy industrial settings, or equivalent
Knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
Experience in troubleshooting and specification of repair scope for control valves, transmitters (level, temperature, pressure, flow, etc.
process and CEMs analyzers, etc.
Ability to generate loop diagrams and instrument datasheets
Familiarity with SIL (Safety Integrity Level) and Burner Management Systems
Ability to apply the foundational elements of reliability and understands how they interact
Strong understanding of Maintenance and Reliability (M&R) program development, best practices, tools, applications, and KPI’s
Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis investigations
Experience in generating and understanding control basis memorandums and Cause and Effect diagrams
Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred
Dedication to employee health and safety and the environment
A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Previous experience with SAP would be considered an asset
Responsibilities :
Implement and sustain the overall reliability program for instrument, SIS, and CAS assets in the plant
Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for instrumentation assets
Monitor and measure asset performance and ensure asset performance and strategy effectiveness measurements are fully integrated into asset strategies and maintenance programs
Collaborate with the Maintenance Planner to review and interpret equipment strategies and to validate the actions and recommendations are integrated into effective maintenance programs
Provide technical expertise to operations regarding technologies and methods for improving equipment reliability
Apply Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) approaches
Conduct investigations and determine the true root cause of failures
Provide recommendations to eliminate failures and optimize asset availability
Develop, apply or sustain Asset Criticality Ranking (ACR)
Location and other Key Details :
You will work out of our Commerce City Refinery, located at 5801 Brighton Blvd.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs

Salary and Compensation Details :
$100,000 to $145,000 annual salary and an annual incentive (bonus) program
