Summary
Responsible for leading and facilitating the development of assigned department’s vision and strategic plans. Responsible for the program’s overall financial performance.
Monitors program volume, and works to improve the program’s cost structure, productivity, and revenue position. Develops and implements strategic and tactical business plans including operational goals and performance targets which are consistent with the mission of White Plains Hospital.
Works closely with Vice President Operations, Physician and Nursing Leadership in preparation, monitoring and management of the operational efficiency, quality, strategic goals and business plans.
Collaborates with medical leadership to ensure cost-effective, high-quality care through the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the care management process.
Responsible for hospital flow and throughput at White Plains Hospital which is critical to the overall successful operation and mission.
Organizes, manages, and facilitates programmatic initiatives and staff to support core measures, regulatory and other data measurements, including related performance improvement activities and Joint Commission / CMS compliance.
Ensures the integrity of data abstraction processes at White Plains Hospital and assures reporting of measures at the senior leadership level and throughout the hospital.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following :
- Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors
- Develops and monitors short-term and long-term strategic development plans by identifying benchmark goals for assigned departments and a clear mechanism for achievement of those goals.
- Prepares operating and capital budgets and monitors departmental expenditures to assure operations are within budget. Ensures execution of internal controls to provide reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient.
Works with department heads to develop and implement cost-control plans to improve fiscal operations.
Provides effective leadership, management, direction and administration of operations for multiple departments and clinical areas.
Mentors and develops staff and fosters a positive and productive work environment.
- Participates in the onboarding process of new surgeons for Perioperative Service Line Director.
- Participates in the development of Standards of Practice & Protocols for service line.
- Participates in the Performance Improvement Program as defined by the organization.
- Is responsible for participation in committees, task forces and projects as appropriate.
- He / She demonstrates leadership skills and commitment to professional accountability and growth.
- Liaises with various departments including Administration, Finance and Operations departments, as well as senior management and physicians / medical staff to ensure optimal coordination and communication to meet operational goals and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborates with team on improving quality metrics in their service.
- Researches and remains current with industry standards and new technology specific to Service Line specialty.
- Attends Staff Meetings and mandatory in-services and is accountable to coordinate and collaborate with educator to provided service line specific education.
- Interfaces with physicians and maintains effective communication between medical, nursing and support staff and the Hospital.
Builds and maintains productive inter / intra departmental relationships to optimize operations.
In collaboration with Finance, develops business plans for new or ongoing programs, develops and oversees the budget, and explains variances, presenting alternatives for archiving goals or negotiating changes in the goals with clinical leadership.

- Adheres to all WPH standards of care, policies and procedures including dress code, code of conduct, behavioral standards, completion of annual mandatory education and completion of annual health assessment.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in Business Planning and Process Improvement, including five (5) years of management experience in a hospital setting
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office

Physical / Mental Demands / Requirements & Work Environment
May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools / SDS Access).
A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
Position requires ability to frequently push / pull / lift heavy objects more than 50 pounds and lift patients of all weights with a minimum of one (1) assist or assistive device;
perform difficult manipulative, arm-hand steadiness and hand-eye coordination skills; walk and stand for prolonged periods.
Must be physically able to meet all regulatory requirements.
- Position requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with interruption and attend to tasks for more than 60 minutes at a time.
- Individual must be able to understand and relate to theories behind several related concepts and remember multiple tasks given during the course of a day.
- Demonstrates ability to follow written and oral instructions required for the position.
- Demonstrates ability to analyze multidimensional problems into component parts and sort out tasks in priority order to solve the problem.
