JOB SITE LOCATION : 1272 Doris Rd., Auburn Hills, MI 48326

DUTIES : Nexteer Automotive Corporation seeks a System Controls Engineer based out of our office at 1272 Doris Road, Auburn Hills, MI 48326.

Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address.

Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. This position does not require travel.

Perform analysis, modeling and design of control systems involved in motion control products. Design and optimize simultaneous system performance goals through requirements flow down.

Create system and subsystem specifications. Coordinate technical projects pertaining to electric drive systems (motor control and power electronics) with cross-organizational teams.

Enforce the technology development process for technical projects from research through to production implementation. Perform calibration, testing and validation of motion control system requirements as well as diagnose and correct deficiencies in designs and prototypes.

Integrate all aspects of a design through the use of multi-disciplinary engineering. Stay abreast of new technology and recent developments and trends in the research and academic arena related to motion control technologies, including servomechanisms, electric motor drives and power converter control systems.

Provide technical leadership for projects incorporating complex electromechanical (mechatronic) systems. Assist in maintaining cost controls through development of cost optimal system designs and architectures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS : Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Motor Control, Power Electronics or Power Systems Engineering and two years of experience in the job offered or related.

  • Experience must include : Experience with control systems and signal processing theory; experience with design and analysis of modern motion control systems, including servomechanisms, electric motor drives and power converter control systems;
  • experience with modeling of physical systems including mechanical systems, electrical machines, power converters and various sensing subsystems;
  • experience with system synthesis, analysis and verification techniques; experience with creating new products, algorithms, and systems through innovation;

and experience with simulation tool (e.g. Matlab / Simulink).
