Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical position in an adult specialty unit at a Level I trauma center, requiring an active IL RN license and BLS certification.
Responsibilities
Work in an adult medical specialty unit within an acute hospital settingUnit consists of 56 private and semi-private bedsPatient ratios are 1 : 4-5 during days / evenings and 1 : 5-6 at nightPatient population includes acute care general med cases such as cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, diabetes complications, respiratory and organ failure, and behavioral health & addictionsCentral lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes are commonBipap and Cpap for sleep apnea and airway managementRemote telemetry monitoring using Phillips monitors; RNs can view strips on the pack or computerThree 12-hour day shifts per week, 0700-1930, with every other weekend and holiday rotationSelf-scheduling and block scheduling available via APIFloating required to other acute care general med areas (nephrology, neuro, ortho, oncology)No on-call or standby requiredEMR is Epic; Epic experience is preferredFree charge RN on each floor provides additional supportPatient Care Techs assist with vital signs, accucheks, bladder scans, and ADLsOrientation consists of 2-3 shifts with 12 non-billable hoursProfessional scrubs of any color permitted; no visible tattoos or piercings except earsCOVID vaccinations are not requiredLocal pay rate applies to candidates living within 50 milesFirst-time travelers will be considered if experience requirements are metRequirements
