UC San Diego Health MANAGER OF ONCOLOGY PATIENT NAVIGATION PROGRAM

Hiring Pay Scale : $75,000 - $100,000 / Year

Seeking a dynamic leader who will play a crucial role in leading and overseeing patient navigation services within Cancer Services.

This Manager will ensure a culturally competent patient navigation program through training, workflow enhancement, and ongoing program refinement.

They will monitor program effectiveness and outcomes, collecting and analyzing data to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement and appropriate workflow standardization.

Building upon the success of the existing program, the Manager will partner with Cancer Services leaders to identify opportunities for programmatic expansion in alignment with clinical services geographic growth.

The incumbent will cultivate positive relationships with physician leaders, providers, care team members and all UC San Diego Health staff to support patients throughout their cancer journey.

In addition, they will establish and maintain relationships with philanthropic donors, community organizations and resources to provide patients with access to critical supportive services, financial assistance, and other resources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Nine (9) years of relevant project management within healthcare, academic, non-profit, or similar environments, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience / training.

Experience in oncology or cancer care settings is highly desirable.

  • Experience and demonstrated success in program implementation / evaluation.
  • Previous leadership or management experience, preferably in a healthcare or nonprofit setting.
  • Experience and proven success in supervisory, organizational, and customer service skills to effectively supervise and prioritize the activities of subordinate staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with internal team members as well as community partners. Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent patient-centered care and ensuring positive patient experiences throughout the cancer journey.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, convey complex administrative, clinic, and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and prepare and present various reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals.
  • Familiarity with metrics and data analysis to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Experience supporting patients and caregivers with navigation needs in a healthcare or community organization setting.
  • Strong understanding of oncology care delivery, including treatment modalities, supportive care needs, and survivorship issues.
  • Experience in a hospital, ambulatory or oncology setting.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating healthcare programs or initiatives.
  • Extensive knowledge of EDI principles.
  • Lean Six Sigma training.
  • Working knowledge of Epic.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS :

  • Position may also be responsible for Patient Resource Center(s) and volunteer coordination.
