As a Vice President in the Risk Management - Capital and Market Risk Management Team, you will be assisting the Chief Risk Officer for Balance Sheet Risk Management.
Your role will involve identifying, measuring, monitoring, and managing risks associated with the firm's balance sheet and capital, while also supporting the Market Risk stripe.
Job Responsibilities
- Guide independent assessment, measuring, monitoring, and control of capital risk across the Firm, ensuring the Firm has the sufficient level or composition of capital to support business activities and associated risks during normal economic environments and under stressed conditions.
- Conduct and involve the ongoing monitoring of the Firm’s Basel regulatory framework to ensure compliance with the applicable Basel rules and associated relevant regulatory guidance
- Perform assessments of the firm’s implementation of the Basel capital rules, and deep dives where the rule is complex or application of the rule would materially affect calculation of risk-weighted assets
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Conduct strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and experience in quantitative modeling or model review in one or more of the core regulatory capital frameworks : Market Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk, CVA
- Experience in quantitative modeling or model review / validation in one or more of the core regulatory capital frameworks : Market Risk, Wholesale Credit Risk, Retail Credit Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk
- Experience as a consultant implementing Basel rule requirements
- Experience in technology and operations, on the development / implementation side and / or the process control side
- Maintain a strong ability to trace through complex financial systems and processes
- Experience reviewing technical business documentation and interviewing subject matter experts to draw conclusions
- Ability to distil regulatory rules and technical guidance into key requirements for use in assessments of regulatory rule compliance and producing reports for senior management and supervisors
- Ability to liaise with businesses, model developers, risk management, finance, technology, and operations to perform assessments
- Leverage control management, as required, to secure commitment to the timely and complete resolution of the root causes of control issues
- Draft and present reports to senior management detailing the findings from periodic assessments
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience as an economist / financial economist in risk analysis division of OCC, supervision division of FRB (Bank or Board)
- Conduct work independently while remaining current with emerging regulatory requirements and expectations and detail oriented
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
