LPN Acute Care
Duties : General Description : Under general supervision, provides preventative and health care to an assigned group of patients or clients in the OU Health facility.

Will assist with the nursing assessment through data collection, observation, and obtainment of vital signs on assigned patients or clients.
Provide care according to an established nursing plan.
Observe changes in patient's condition and notify supervisory personnel if significant changes occur.
Provide routine ostomy care, nasogastric tube placement and feeding and placement and discontinuing of oral-gastric tube.
Will initiate and monitor oxygen therapy according to physician orders or unit protocol. Will suction and clean tracheotomy sites.
May administer oral, intravenous, intra-muscular, intra-dermal, subcutaneous, sub-lingual, vaginal, rectal and topical medications.
Prepare patients for routine physical examinations and assist the physician during examinations. An LPN can function in the role of Surgical Tech if position open is in the operating room.
General Responsibilities : Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills : Experience : None required. One or more years of experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures.
Ability to organize, coordinate, plan and evaluate nursing needs of assigned patients.
Must be knowledgeable about operating room techniques if applying for a surgery position.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
