This is an open and continuous posting for full-time and part-time positions on multiple shifts.
Tewksbury Hospital operated by the Department of Public Health (DPH), a 370 bed Joint Commission accredited hospital, is currently seeking caring and attentive individuals to serve as a Licensed Practical Nurse II working 24, 32, or 40 hours per week on 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift.
Openings are on the DPH Medical Units at Tewksbury Hospital. The hospital provides comprehensive treatment, care, and comfort to adults with medical and / or mental illnesses.
The Licensed Practical Nurse plays a vital role by being patient-centered and building trust with our patient population.
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the selected candidate will assist patients with illnesses and conditions that are often underserved or difficult to manage in other health care settings, by assisting the patient with activities of daily living.
Please Note : After Nursing Orientation, selected candidates will work 24, 32 or 40 hours per week on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift.
Salary ranges listed below are base rate and do not include shift differential and area differential of $4 / hour.
Employees in this position will be required to perform mandatory overtime.
Candidates must indicate preferred shifts and full-time or part-time status in the Questionnaire below.
Annual Base Salary for 24 hours per week : $36, - $49,
Annual Base Salary for 32 hours per week : $48, - $66,
Annual Base Salary for 40 hours per week : $61, - $79,
Duties and Responsibilities (these are a general summary and not all inclusive) :
- Provides direct care to individual patients including medication administration, simple procedures and procedures defined in the Nursing Practice Manual.
- As a team member, assists other nursing staff in caring for groups of patients and in carrying out complex procedures.
- Implements nursing care based on sound clinical knowledge; is guided by the nursing care plan as developed by the Registered Nurse and by policies and procedures in Nursing.
- Provides for the daily care & personal / hygienic needs of patients by giving baths, back rubs, feeding, grooming, skin care, etc.
- In accordance with Nursing policy, documents appropriately including Progress Notes and charting to maintain complete and accurate medical records.
- Appropriately, and within required policies, carries out physician orders for the patients.
- Recognizes symptoms and reports to the appropriate person.
- Assigns and supervises the work of Nursing Assistants, using knowledge of patients’ needs and knowledge of staff skills.
Provides on-the-job training to personnel.
- Reports information regarding all matters of concern to the appropriate person for corrective action.
- May assume charge responsibilities as appropriate to level of care.
- May assume charge in the absence of RN with availability from the Nursing Supervisor.
- Participates on committees and in unit conferences.
- Attends required educational programs and other workshops and seminars to maintain licensure and enhance own professional development.
Attends required In-service Programs annually.
- Accepts clinical assignments, hours of work, and understands and initiates rules and regulations which govern medical emergencies, fire, bomb threat and disaster.
- Uses hospital supplies in a cost-conscious manner.
- Compliance with all applicable state and federal laws including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations which govern the privacy and confidentiality of information about patients.
- Attend community meetings, team meetings, periodic reviews, and other consultative sessions.
- Performs related duties as required.
