Reporting to the Deputy Provost, the Director of Learning Assessment (DLA) works closely with faculty to maintain a culture of assessment and manage assessment of student learning in academic programs, including the University’s Core Curriculum.

The DLA provides guidance in the development of learning outcomes, assessment plans and processes, measures, and use of assessment results to improve student learning;

coordinates artifact collection and scoring for assessment of the General Education Program; and conducts data analysis and reporting.

The DLA also maintains the learning assessment component of the assessment management system and ensures that assessment information is entered and kept up to date.

Finally, the DLA develops and implements professional development for faculty related to assessment, meets regularly with Deans and faculty, coordinates the University Assessment Committee, and communicates learning assessment information to the college community.

You Are :

  • Familiar with the forms and practices of assessment required for accreditation.
  • Able to formulate and communicate complex academic assessment and learning improvement concepts, methods, and processes.
  • Able to develop and maintain good working relationships with faculty, administrators, and staff.

You will :

  • Lead the development, revision, organization, analysis and reporting of student learning outcomes assessment processes.
  • Support the assessment process for academic units.
  • Coordinate the assessment of the core curriculum and experiential learning activities, collaborating with the Core Curriculum Subcommittee of the University Curriculum Committee.
  • Collaborate with Deputy Provost, Vice Provosts, other provost office staff, deans and other university administrators in supporting a culture of assessment at the University.
  • Participate in the collection and analysis of various assessment data to support institutional accreditation, departmental accreditation, and program reviews including dissemination of results and assisting others with understanding and appropriately using them.
  • Facilitate the implementation of assessment procedures and software.
  • Review and approve assessment plans for new and revised academic programs and courses.
  • Provide strategic advice and consultation to leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of modifications and enhancements to existing assessment operations, systems, and procedures.
  • Promote awareness of the University mission and strategic goals through effective assessment practices so that student learning outcomes reflect the University’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Provide technical and end-user support for all aspects of program review and assessment reporting.
  • Maintain familiarity with standards of all accrediting bodies affiliated with university programs.
  • Interpret student learning outcomes assessment findings and prepare internal and external communications to summarize findings, with particular emphasis on the quality of the assessment efforts and findings that influence institutional decision-making and policy development.
  • Record, store, manage, and disseminate confidential and sensitive assessment data, as appropriate.
  • Support the reporting process with narratives and artifacts from assessments and surveys.
  • Maintain the assessment workflow calendar and ensure timeliness of deliverables.
  • Provide training for faculty and administrators in all aspects of student learning assessment.
  • Maintain and create assessment resources, plans, forms and rubrics that support all aspects of assessment; keep resources updated and ensure their accessibility to faculty and administrators.
  • Supervise any graduate student staff assigned to the Office of the Provost for assessment operations.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

You Have :

  • Master’s degree in statistics, education, psychology, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience with higher education academic assessment.
  • Demonstrated experience with assessment management system.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and prepare and present reports effectively.
  • Familiarity with the forms and practices of assessment required for accreditation.
  • Ability to formulate and communicate complex academic assessment and learning improvement concepts, methods, and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with faculty, administrators, and staff.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and utilize new technology.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and respect for diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of state and federal postsecondary education accountability initiatives and trends.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Doctoral degree in statistics, education, psychology, or related fields.
  • College-Level teaching experience.
  • Experience with Canvas learning management system.
  • Experience with Watermark Student Learning & Licensure and Watermark Planning & Self Study software tools.
