The Role :
Our site in Billerica, Massachusetts is seeking a new Operations Manager to join our team. The Operations Manager will be responsible and accountable for the manufacturing operations.
They can look forward to working collaboratively with colleagues and direct reports within the manufacturing organization to ensure that orders are processed according to customer’s expectations while remaining focused on safety, service, quality, and agility through supervision of staff and allocation of resources.
What You'll Do :
Coordinate successful execution of production orders by defining equipment and employee schedules, defining priorities and ensuring consistent workflow between shifts.
Maintain accountability for the safety, quality, cost, throughput and delivery of assigned manufacturing operation
Operate production in accordance with EH&S requirements; wear proper personal protective equipment.
Cultivate a culture of commitment to safety excellence while ensuring responsible and disciplined operations within the plant.
Ensure compliance with legal and environmental safety standards. Actively participate in and encouraging the employees to participate in the Safety, Ergonomics and Environmental (SEE).
Committee, and other company sponsored safety programs.
Track and manage delivery performance. Manage resources to ensure enough capacity to achieve required production volumes.
Assure ongoing improvement in product quality as measured by CAR’s, QN’s and audit results through effective leadership of team
Coach and mentor staff on Lean & Six Sigma tools. Sponsor Lean events. Implement the appropriate measures (metrics / SCOR) to drive continuous improvements and best practices
Champion use of CI tools in driving plant improvement to develop and implement strategic initiatives relative to inventory, capacity utilization and growth opportunities
Guide and support new product transition activities from engineering to volume production in area
Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning staffing, work procedures and assignments, while considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems. Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and direct reports to adjust for changes in manufacturing conditions, including demand.
Manage metrics tracking and performance, related to the manufacturing and operations of the cell or value stream.
Ensure that all setups are designed and ready for production and that all manufacturing processes are functioning and available for production according to the schedule.
Provide recognition to employees. Proactively address issues with employee with supportive documentation. Adhere to Company policies and procedures.
Conduct timely performance reviews. Coordinate effective delegation of work assignments and training. Conduct shift meetings at a minimum of once per week
Ensure personnel is effectively trained regarding the operation of new and existing equipment and processes.
Complete miscellaneous tasks as assigned in support of the larger organization and production goals
What We Seek :
Bachelor’s degree in Science , Engineering or related technical field
5 + years of supervisory experience, ideally leading a cross-functional team within a manufacturing environment
Excellent communication, planning, organization and leadership skills.
Flexibility to adapt to the needs of a 24 / 5 work environment, work force, and customers’ needs.
The drive to challenge the status quo and manage the team and production environment with integrity and a bias toward action
Curiosity and drive to learn new things and push improvements forward
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, recruitment, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
Ability to perform job tasks, including lifting, using ladders, and climbing stairways
Outstanding Candidates Will Have :
Experience with SAP
Demonstrated experience with equipment and process qualification and scale up.
