Event Head Chef
Hearty Boys Caterers are looking for an experienced Event Head Chef to work off-site catered events for weddings, house parties and corporate events at venues throughout the Chicago area.
Some of the venues Hearty Boys works at include, Chicago Cultural Center, Artifact Events, Fairlie, Salvage One, Wildman BT, Ovation and Sarabande.
Work is mostly weekends and great for those looking to have flexible weekend work available to them. The Head Chef is responsible for overseeing all food production in the off-site kitchen, ensuring that all dishes are prepared properly.
The pay is from $30- $34 / hr (based on experience), plus gratuities.
Essential Duties :
- Prior to the event date, the Head Chef will read the BEO and salespersons’ event notes, to make sure all kitchen equipment required for service is included.
- Lead the food pack out at Hearty Boys kitchen and office before arriving at the venue.
- Lead setup and breakdown of kitchens at the venues.
- Supervise and assign tasks to all kitchen staff based on their skills.
- Assist in training new and inexperienced kitchen staff and communicating their performance to the staffing department.
- Works with the salesperson and event supervisor on timeline of dinner service and each client’s specific needs.
- Leads shift meeting with kitchen and floor staff going over the events menu, timing, plate or buffet presentation and guests’ dietary restrictions.
- Delegating responsibility in the kitchen i.e., hors d'oeuvre, salad and cave cook stations.
- Organizing and working the line as needed.
- Contributes to event reviews highlighting issues that arise, to ensure they don’t continue to occur.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and sanitized work environment.
