Job Title : Medical Assistant
Location : Minneapolis, MN 55406.
Shift : 07 : 00 AM - 05 : 30 PM 4x10-hour.
Job Duration : 13 weeks.
Responsibilities :
- Greet and room patients, taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
- Assist with patient history collection, including medical conditions, medications, and allergies.
- Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, or treatments, ensuring comfort and readiness.
- Administer injections, vaccines, and perform wound care or dressing changes as directed.
- Conduct basic diagnostic tests (e.g., EKG, lab draws) as needed.
- Assist healthcare providers during exams and minor procedures.
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring all necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment are ready.
- Handle specimens for laboratory testing and ensure proper labeling and processing.
- Provide basic wound care, splinting, and other necessary treatments under the direction of the provider.
- Instruct patients on medication usage, treatment plans, and preventive healthcare.
- Offer guidance on follow-up care and answer general questions related to their health.
- Provide educational materials for patient health conditions as directed by the provider.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage appointment follow-ups.
- Maintain accurate patient records and input data into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Process insurance information and handle pre-authorizations, if necessary.
- Answer phone calls, return messages, and handle patient inquiries efficiently.
Experience :
Minimum of 1 year experience required.
Certifications :
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
License :
Medical Assistant licenses .
Special Requirements :
- Must have experience in a clinic setting, specifically in primary care / internal medicine with pediatrics (high priority), family care, adults, and geriatrics.
- Duties include rooming, vaccines, well-child checks, handling in-basket tasks, RightFax, scheduling, nurse-only visits, etc.
- Proficiency with Epic EMR (Excellian) is required.
- Preference for CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant).
