Job Title : Medical Assistant

Location : Minneapolis, MN 55406.

Shift : 07 : 00 AM - 05 : 30 PM 4x10-hour.

Job Duration : 13 weeks.

Responsibilities :

  • Greet and room patients, taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
  • Assist with patient history collection, including medical conditions, medications, and allergies.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, or treatments, ensuring comfort and readiness.
  • Administer injections, vaccines, and perform wound care or dressing changes as directed.
  • Conduct basic diagnostic tests (e.g., EKG, lab draws) as needed.
  • Assist healthcare providers during exams and minor procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring all necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment are ready.
  • Handle specimens for laboratory testing and ensure proper labeling and processing.
  • Provide basic wound care, splinting, and other necessary treatments under the direction of the provider.
  • Instruct patients on medication usage, treatment plans, and preventive healthcare.
  • Offer guidance on follow-up care and answer general questions related to their health.
  • Provide educational materials for patient health conditions as directed by the provider.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage appointment follow-ups.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and input data into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Process insurance information and handle pre-authorizations, if necessary.
  • Answer phone calls, return messages, and handle patient inquiries efficiently.

Experience :

Minimum of 1 year experience required.

Certifications :

Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

License :

Medical Assistant licenses .

Special Requirements :

  • Must have experience in a clinic setting, specifically in primary care / internal medicine with pediatrics (high priority), family care, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Duties include rooming, vaccines, well-child checks, handling in-basket tasks, RightFax, scheduling, nurse-only visits, etc.
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR (Excellian) is required.
  • Preference for CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant).
