Description :
The Bus Rapid Transit Project Manager’s (PM) position will be responsible for managing the Project Team, Project Stakeholders, consultant(s), and contractors as necessary to rehabilitate, enhance and expand the City of Atlanta’s transit system.
A key function of the position is to manage the activities, operations, and resources necessary to carry out and ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with project documents.
Manages the activities in evaluating contractor and consultant bids. They will enforce contract provisions and resolve budgetary, technical, and scheduling issues.
Makes periodic onsite inspections of projects to ensure construction is proceeding properly. The PM will maintain project status reports and senior staff briefings.
Establishes policies and procedures to ensure compliance with business goals and objectives.
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
- A minimum of 10 Years’ progressively responsible experience in the full project lifecycle of planning, design, contract preparation, procurement, and implementation of large-scale construction or integrated systems capital improvement projects.
- Comprehensive experience in the preparation, budgeting, negotiation, and administration of contracts with both public and private organizations is desired.
- Experience preparing scope statements, estimates, and forecasts is desired.
- Experience using professional scheduling software and Microsoft Office products is preferred.
Experience as a Project Manager may be substituted for a degree on a year-for-year basis.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience with :
- Federal Transit Administration project planning and implementation processes and procedures.
- Experience delivering a bus rapid transit project.
- Development and pursuit of FTA Capital Investment Grants (CIG).
- Experience can include expansion of rail and / or bus systems with coordination and project interface with the FTA.
- Highly developed skills in speaking, writing, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and management are necessary.
- Must be able to effectively interact with the customer, client, vendors, and other team members.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, construction drawings, and legal documents.
- Must have experience working with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Capable of applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is desired; if certification has not been obtained, it must be obtained within two (2) years of starting in this position.
