Hey There! We would love for you to come join our team out in Multnomah Village at Yalla. Located in the SW hills of Portland we are a Eastern Mediterranean restaurant that focuses on smoked meats, fresh pastas, and seasonal vegetables.
Job Summary : We are looking for a person with a restaurant background to join our team. The sous chef is expected to perform many different rolls, expo and prep positions.
On any given day they assume the lead of their position lead line, lead prep, etc. On expo shifts they assume the daily tasks of the Chef de Cuisine.
The day-to-day duties of the Sous Chef will be ever changing and therefore requires someone who is flexible, and adaptable.

Reports to : Chef de Cuisine, Culinary Director
Qualifications :
2 years+ experience as a Sous Chef or similar position. Chef experience is a plus
Desire and passion to lead a team and work collaboratively
Knowledge of Mediterranean food and ingredients (preferred)
Knowledge & proficiency in various cooking techniques
Organized, self-motivated, multi-tasker with great follow-up and follow-through
Attention to detail
Strong communication skills
Strong Auditory skills - all tickets are verbally fired; each station does not receive a copy of the ticket
Proven track record of timeliness, meeting deadlines, and performing under pressure
Ability to lead and work with a team in a positive and productive manner; maintain composure under pressure and in stressful situations
Must have a valid Food Handlers card or obtain one upon employment
What you'll do :
Oversee and direct the line cook production in collaboration with the Chef de Cuisine (CDC)
Leads the kitchen in absence of the CDC
Ensures that line cooks are working efficiently and producing consistent product
Coach, train and performance manage the team members in collaboration with the CDC
Oversees the daily prep lists and pasta fabrication
Ensures that all prep is being executed correctly and in a timely manner
Writes the daily chef and back prep lists
Aids line cooks in daily prep lists as needed
Has the ability to properly place all orders for the back of house such as : produce, meat & seafood, specialty goods and farm orders
Helps maintain a food cost percentage goals
Ensures that all produce and goods remained organized and that orders are put away promptly (FIFO)
Meet with CDC weekly to ensure we are not only meeting the metrics, but also ensure we are providing the best possible work environment
