The Lubrizol Corporation is seeking highly motivated Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security (HSES) students to join our Operations Co-op Program to start in the Spring or Summer 2026 semester. This program offers assignments across HSES tasks to develop you as a well-rounded engineer by exposing you to various departments and sites throughout the company.
What You'll Do
Each assignment will challenge you to build on the knowledge you gain in the classroom. You will be exposed to a variety of assignments focusing on HSES tasks designed to develop you as a well-rounded engineer by exposing you to various departments and sites throughout the company. Responsibilities may include :
- Assist with strategic and tactical leadership in the development and implementation of the facility's safety and environmental management programs and initiatives
- Assure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the State Environmental Protection Agency, and Lubrizol standards and policies
- Provide technical oversight and review for the appropriate safety and environmental considerations in plant operations
- Prepare permits, sampling, documents, forms, and other routine and non-routine submittals for the appropriate safety and environmental reporting in an accurate and timely manner
- Participate in risk assessments, emergency response training / drills, safety inspections, and / or other safety reviews
Safety And Physical Requirements
Able to work in a fixed position, standing or sitting, for long portions of the workdayCompletion of work hours on a shift schedule; for example, swing shift, second shift, or third shift (maximum of 6 weeks per term)Requires use of appropriate PPE to fulfill safety requirementsPhysically able to climb and work in elevated areas (e.g., climb / descend stairs repeatedly during shift)Willing / able to work outdoors in inclement weatherPresence of nuisance odors, noise, heavy machinery from chemical processes, testing / lab facilitiesRequires use of appropriate PPE, including safety footwear, safety apparel, eye protection, hard hat, hearing protection, and respiratory protectionHandle glassware and equipment for laboratory workOperation of equipment and / or handling of chemicals if / when properly trainedWhat We're Looking For
Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the futureInterest in working in a chemical manufacturing environmentUndergraduate student pursuing Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or an HSES-related field from an accredited university, with a graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028Completion of two co-op terms is required, with three or more strongly preferred. Co-op terms should be full-time (40 hours / week), with one or more terms scheduled in the fall or spring semesterReliable transportation to and from the work location during the co-op term; some sites may require transportation to various locations in the plantGPA >3.0 will be given priority consideration
