Overview :
The Center for Drug Discovery (CDD) is a multi-disciplinary center comprised of chemists and pharmacologists working together to discover new therapeutics in a non-profit setting.
Our work is funded by federal agencies, such as the NIH and FDA, through grants and contracts in addition to various commercial entities.
The ideal candidate is expected to follow Standard Operating Procedures, Analytical Methods, and Quality Management Plans (QMP) to ship, receive, and prepare samples for analyses.
have a bachelor's degree with 1 year of related experience.
Responsibilities :
Use automated instrumentation to measure pH and turbidity in water samples.
Proficient with high-throughput creatinine and cotinine assays in different biological matrices.
Proficient in the operation of a multi-mode microplate reader.
Familiarity with large shipping and receiving projects.
Review data for completeness and adherence. Flag samples as required.
Organize samples for storage and retrieval in secured locations.
Communicate regularly with RTI task leader, keeping them informed of progress and any issues or problems that arise.
Participate in internal presentations by contributing to the development of the application / methodology / technology and assisting with the preparation of the presentation.
May mentor junior project staff members (lab assistants, technicians, etc.) providing coaching as well as formal and informal feedback concerning their performance.
Search literature, conduct experimental tests, collect, analyze, and summarize data.
Apply and interpret standard chemistry scientific or engineering theories, concepts and techniques.
Develop preliminary findings for review by more experienced researchers and managers.
Develop solutions to problems where established theories and techniques can be identified, and some precedents exist using familiar processes to complete work assignments.
Participate in internal and external audits, as needed
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree and 1 years’ related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with operation of osmometer (Advanced Instruments, Model 3320).
Maintain a strong customer focus and explore opportunities for innovation (i.e. exploring / evaluating existing and new technologies) in day-to-day research activities.
Experienced in conducting Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectroscopy (ICP-MS), Inductively Coupled-Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES) and colorimetric analyses.
Experienced in operating common laboratory equipment and instrumentation
Experience with SQL server interactions and Microsoft Access.
Experience working under EPA project requirements, especially involving biological samples.
Knowledge of data entry and data flagging for different environmental sampling conditions.
