About The Position
Job Title : Cath Lab / Special Procedures Technologist Job Specialty : Cardiac Cath Lab Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 9-hour days Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Tech License : Licensed by the relevant state agency Certifications : ARRT Certified, CPR certified, BLS - American Heart Must-Have : Knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles and procedures;
Demonstrated skill in providing age-appropriate patient care; Willingness to obtain IEMA certification if not already certified Job Description : - Perform cine, digital subtraction angiography, and other specialized radiologic procedures under sterile techniques to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment.
- Prepare examination area, position patients for procedures, and operate complex radiology equipment in accordance with established techniques and routines.
- Function as a scrub tech, ensuring the sterile setup of the instrument table and passing catheters and other sterile instruments to the physician during procedures.
- Ensure cleanliness of all exposed surfaces and respond to the physician's needs throughout procedures. - Prepare patients by positioning them, applying sterile technique to catheter insertion sites, and explaining procedures to alleviate apprehensions and gain cooperation.
- Operate equipment such as special X-ray tubes, digital subtraction devices, and power injectors, adjusting controls to obtain suitable radiographic exposures based on patient size and condition.
- Transfer images to the cardiac picture archival system, ensuring correct storage and archiving in the patient's records.
- Ensure equipment is functioning correctly, performing minor repairs or notifying appropriate personnel of malfunctions.
- Monitor patients' cardiovascular and pulmonary systems, recognizing changes and alerting physicians to irregular readings.
- Attend mandatory department, medical center meetings, and work-related educational programs to support continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with department personnel and outside agencies. - Assist in preparing rooms between patients, disposing of waste, and replenishing supplies, and completing on-call requirements.
- Complete special procedure technologist competency requirements.Note : Applicants must understand that this is a drug-free campus and be able to produce a negative drug screen.
