Job Description
The CONSTRUCTION JOB COST ANALYST / ACCOUNTANT will be responsible for reviewing all aspects of costs and profitability for the company's projects from initial set up through contract close out.
They will facilitate and conduct the review process with each individual project management team and assure company policies are adhered to for cost and finance reporting.
This position will work with company ownership and report to the Comptroller.
New Project Responsibilities :
- Participate in the kickoff meeting to understand the project scope and review potential risks.
- Review contract document and route for company approval.
- Obtain bonds and insurance certificates and route to Construction Management (CM) / General Contractor with a signed contract.
- Obtain final cost and labor hour budget from Estimating and importing into eCMS.
- Establish a project financial summary report (Consolidated report) from the template.
Monthly Responsibilities :
Pull cost reports for each active job from the eCMS Accounting / ERP system. Identify and document causals for the material budget to actual variances.
Populate project financial summary report (Consolidated report) from costs to date information. Document material causals identified and issue monthly draft reports to President and Finance Manager for further review and discussion.
- Discuss project with Project Manager (budget, labor, extra work, and other concerns). Where needed, obtain and input updated cost projections from PM or Executive.
- Review craft labor report for hours incurred and projection to complete. Utilize report to validate labor budget and identify potential variance.
If the variance is deemed material, discuss with PM and Executive for possible budget adjustment.
Report and monitor project cash position.
Ongoing Responsibilities :
- Review sub-contract billings to ensure costs are up to date.
- Review project receivable billing and aging. Elevate collection concerns with Project Manager and / or Finance Manager.
- Work with Project Managers to obtain approval for Extra Work Orders (EWO's). Open EWO cost code within eCMS to track cost incurred.
Once approved, obtain final contract amendment along with budget adjustments and input detail into eCMS.
Process improvement. Look for more efficient methods to complete work. Stay informed of industry trends and technology.
Assist with business case development for potential implementation of new process or technology.
Assist Finance Manager with budget projections, overhead absorption, and process improvement.
Job Requirements :
The CONSTRUCTION JOB COST ANALYST must have the following
5 years on experience in cost analysis involved with a CONSTRUCTION Company. (experience outside the construction industry will not be considered relevant)
An Associates' or Bachelors's degree in finance or accounting.
