Job Responsibilities

Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) has been awarded a grant from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) that focuses on Carbon Monoxide Poisoning prevention through the installation of Carbon Monoxide detectors and education about the importance of carbon monoxide detection in homes.

The DPH Program Consultant will work with local Fire Departments to coordinate materials needed for installation and assist in the development / distribution of community outreach materials.

They will also ensure timely development and implementation of any needed carbon monoxide training and public education, coordinate data collection among all focus communities, and provide basic data analysis with process and outcome evaluation.

Under general supervision, provides technical assistance and training within a health care specialty. Plans, directs, and implements a specialty program.

Evaluates programs for compliance with state and / or federal guidelines.

Specific Tasks / Duties :

  • Project Management : Responsible for all funder-required reporting, budget monitoring, and grant deliverable completion;
  • facilitates required partner / funder meetings; leads development of required reports; meets all grant and agency required deadlines;

must lead project evaluation and compliance with grant requirements and state / federal guidelines.

Partner / Stakeholder Engagement : Coordinates fire department outreach, engagement, materials delivery, and tracking of installations / outreach;

responsible for maintaining and furthering partner relationships; serves as liaison between internal / external partners as it relates to processes, project deliverables, and grant deliverables.

  • Education and Outreach : Development / procurement of and distribution of pertinent Injury Prevention educational materials to local partners and stakeholders;
  • demonstrates increase in community awareness (local and state level) of the dangers of Carbon Monoxide poisoning; responsible for identifying high-risk dwellings in need of Carbon Monoxide detectors;
  • developing and delivering community outreach presentations; performs descriptive analyses on the burden of CO2 poisoning in GA;

conducts evaluation analysis for distribution of detectors, education delivered, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of experience performing work related to area of assignment;

or seven (7) years of experience performing work related to area of assignment; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Healthcare Program Consultant 1 (HCP090) or position equivalent.

  • Evaluation and data management / interpretation / analysis experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
