Job Title : Director of International Students and Programs

Summary :
The Director of International Students and Programs provides leadership for East Central University’s immigration and visa-processing functions and its efforts and initiatives to support our international population.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Serves as Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1 SEVIS program and manages the SEVIS database as RO / DSO in compliance with DHS regulations;
- Advises international students on immigration regulations (as well as other U.S. and State government regulations), U.
- S. employment authorization, taxation, educational concerns, financial matters, and cultural adjustment;
- Ensure effective communication with international students regarding university policies, services, and programs;
- Represent the concerns and needs of international students to the university community;
- Serve in a leadership role in University Life and on campus in the area of international education;
- Develop connections with other campus units to communicate university policies regarding international students and to raise awareness of the needs of international students;
- Oversee international student insurance compliance;
- Oversee National Student Exchange Program;
- Supervise a support staff consisting of student workers;
- Develop and coordinate special international functions, international student receptions and new student orientation;
- Supervise budget allocation and spending for the office.
Qualifications :
- Candidate must be a US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident to meet federal regulatory requirements for professional practice as a Designated School Official;
- Bachelor’s degree required in an appropriate academic field;
- Progressively responsible demonstrated experience in international student services;
- Ability to provide vision and leadership for the Office of International Students and Programs;
- Sound knowledge of F, J, and H-1B visa classifications; knowledge of and experience with SEVIS;
- Evidence of strong skills in administration and supervision as well as strong written and oral communication skills;
- Computer proficiency, including the use of databases;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate well to and work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds;
- demonstrated understanding of issues affecting international students;
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting and planning.
