Responsibilities

Collect and process blood specimens for testing and perform multiple clerical and processing functions.

• May draw and collect blood samples according to policy.
• Receive, centrifuge, accession, process and transport specimens
• Verify all related records.
• Work pending lists, order add-on tests, and resolve duplicate orders.
• Set up instruments.
• Maintain, clean, and sterilize equipment and work area following safety, cleanliness, and infection control procedures.
• Perform clerical duties which may include answering phones, reviewing EKGs, collecting patient demographic data for patient registration, ordering tests, ABNs, data entry and filing.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration :

Preferred Credential(s) : BLS Provider. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Certification specializing in Phlebotomy credentialed from the American Society for ClinicalPathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC).

Phlebotomy Tech credentialed from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians. Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board ofCertification (ASCP-BOC).

Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT). Tech credentialed from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians.

All issuing authoritiesaccepted.

Education :

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note : Required professional licensure / certification can be used in lieu of education or experience,if applicable.
