Manages a unit within a department. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the unit. Represents the unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.

Major / Essential Functions

  • Supports the Associate Managing Director of Payment Services with general oversite of the operations of the department to ensure daily production and operational goals are met.
  • Provides oversight, instruction, guidance and supervision to the Accounts Payable staff.
  • Monitors and ensures delivery of a strong internal control environment ensuring payments are processed in compliance with State and Institutional rules, guidelines and policies.
  • Provides assistance and guidance to all TTUHSC departments, individuals and vendors in processing payment requests and resolving issues related to Payment Services.
  • Develops and maintains effective interpersonal relationships with staff and internal Departments.
  • Assists with development of new solutions and processes enabling the department to deliver responsive, efficient and effective service.
  • Collaborates with IS and others to resolve issues within the AP systems.
  • Works in cooperation with all areas within Business Affairs to meet its mission.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of State of Texas PCard, Travel and Accounts Payable rules and regulations.
  • Experience in Higher Education Administration and Public Accounting.
  • Experience in e-Procurement and electronic payment processing platforms.
  • Prior knowledge of working in a role requiring interpersonal / communication skills enabling effective communication with staff, administration and external vendors.

    Pay Statement

    Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan website at https : / / app4.ttuhsc.edu / payplan .

  • Assist in testing and deployment of new software and processes.
  • Provides training concerning payment processes to end users.
  • Meets and interacts with vendors to resolve issues.
  • Works jointly with other TTU-System components to resolve issues and implement processes.
  • Reviews, updates and implements policies and procedures.
  • Attends conferences and training opportunities to develop, enhance or seek new skills and processes.

    Bachelor's degree plus three years of supervisory experience OR a combination of education and / or supervisory experience to equal seven years.
